Sometimes we all need a little push to be motivated. I am right there with you. This has been one of those weeks where every little thing just seemed to be a challenge. I tend to take it on myself to try to be a motivator. That’s one reason we’ve had our Month of Motivation Challenge here on the blog. As it is winding down, as is the month of April, it’s a good time to check in on a trick to self motivation.
This week I found myself getting a little crabby over little things. The fact that I was getting crabby made me even more crabby. I really make it a point not to let things “steal my joy” if at all possible. When that begins to happen I do have a little tip that always seems to work. It’s simple, easy and free. . . . I Get Outside.
Getting outdoors is such an uplifting, healing exercise for every ounce of our bodies, minds and souls. All good things come from getting outside and experiencing just a little bit of mother nature, even if it’s just five minutes. Here are the wonderful mood boosting, healthy benefits of stepping outside.
5 Minutes: When you exercise outdoors your mood and self-esteem begin to rise.
10 Minutes: When you are outdoors for only 10 minutes your focus improves.
(That’s one reason I love to grab my labtop and head outside!)
20 Minutes: After being outside for this amount of time your energy skyrockets!
30 Minutes: Your happiness endorphins increases, symptoms of depression
decreases and blood pressure falls. (How cool is that?!)
90 Minutes: Negative thoughts decrease. Blood flow to the area of your brain that
controls the negative thoughts is reduced.
3 Days: Your natural cells that are critical to your immune system become
stronger so your immune system is boosted to help fight off bugs and
