When I set forth the highlights of the Month of Motivation I mentioned sharing a little yoga to add to your month. My intention was to get on my mat and film a nice flow that would be perfect for flexibility work and a compliment to your active rest day.
I have such a great love and respect for yoga that I want to share it with everyone. I can’t think of a single person who could not benefit in some form from a little time on the mat! I began my yoga journey pretty much kicking and screaming because it was not what I wanted to do at all. I forced myself to classes because my hips and hamstrings were so painfully tight. My feelings of love for yoga were a long and slow process. I hung in there and am so glad I did. It has helped with my strength, flexibility, peace of mind, presence, posture, body alignment, confidence, patience, knowledge and understanding of my body, and I think has made me a better fitness instructor.
I am in no means an expert, perfect yogi, or top notch teacher. I learn something every single time I go to another person’s class and each time I share with my own classes. There are so many poses that are out there that I haven’t mastered and that are just within my grasp. It is frustrating and entertaining! I try not to take it all too seriously and go with what I can do each day. I have found it to be so freeing to view the practice in that light!
When thinking of sharing a flow with you I decided that it would be silly for me to film myself when there are so many other real experts out there! One of my favorite instructors to follow, and follow along with at home, is one of my “girl crushes” Heidi Kristoffer. She has a fun, down to earth, approach and style. She is the mom of twins and I’ve watched her come back from pregnancy in a normal and graceful way. Here is a good 30 minute flow that you can follow at home. Let me know what you think! Questions? Let me know those too!
Make sure you are getting in a rest day, but make it an active one! Get off the couch and walk your dog or your spouse, do some gardening, or better yet, get on your yoga mat!
Enjoy Your Day!
